string(1152) "THE MONTESSORI METHOD
The Montessori Method of education was pioneered by Maria Montessori, a doctor who opened her first school in 1907. Through her work with children, she devised educational material which was successful in developing children’s intelligence as well as their physical and social abilities. Her philosophy and methods have been recognised and proven worldwide for over 80 years. The Montessori classroom is known as the ‘prepared environment’ and contains educational materials for the growth and development of every child, as each classroom has children of mixed abilities. The teacher is flexible and responsive in observing children’s interactions and reactions. The teacher then is able to respond positively and constructively by making necessary changes in the environment to suit the children’s needs. At Happydays Montessori, we draw on the huge amount of material available to plan specific programmes designed to meet the needs of children attending the Montessori class. The materials allow for holistic learning and discovery, offering a wide range of intellectual challenges.

string(1017) "Our Curriculum Statement
At Happy Days Montessori our wish for each child is that they are happy, confident and sociable. To attain this, we encourage all children to reach developmental milestones and gain basic life skills by working under framework of Aistear and Síolta. All Staff accomplish this by communicating with children at their level. Staff actively listen and work in partnership with parents in building caring warm trusting relationships with the children in our care.
The fundamentals we work off are ‘respect for each child and their culture’.
Happy Days recognises that play is children’s work and is shaped by planned and unplanned experiences, which are age appropriate. We identify and expand on the children’s emergent interests and develop learning in a fun, interactive and imaginative way. We share these learning experiences with the other children and encourage friendships and build peer relationships.

string(1147) "AIM is a programme of supports designed to ensure that children with disabilities can access the ECCE Programme in mainstream pre-school settings and can participate fully in the pre-school curriculum alongside their peers.
AIM is a child-centred model of supports, involving seven levels of progressive support, moving from the universal to the targeted, based on the needs of the child and the pre-school setting. The model is designed to be responsive to the needs of each individual child in the context of their pre-school setting. It offers tailored, practical supports based on need and does not require a formal diagnosis of disability.
