Geraldine Farrelly Brady - Physical Therapy - Co. Cavan: I operate from my two clinics based in The Backyard, Moynehall, Cavan and at Drumhillagh, Arva, Cavan.

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1993 and I then went onto pursue my Physical Therapy Qualification in 2001. I am currently attending my clinics in Cavan town and Gowna and I offer a very comprehensive range of services including Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physical Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), Remedial Sports Therapy, Dry Needling, Kinesio Taping and Strapping, Reflexology and Low Level Laser Therapy.

I am also a member of CORU, The Irish Association of Physical Therapist (IAPT) and MLD Ireland, and I am currently the principle Physical Therapist to a large number of GAA teams in Cavan and Longford both at club and inter county level.

Physical Therapy is approved by all of the insurance companies in Ireland, depending on the level of cover, it is recommended that you contact your health insurance company for further information, before treatments begin.

I am also a fully qualified and registered Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) Therapist (2012): This is a specialised type of massage and is an important part of treating lymphoedema as it is involves a sequence of hand movements which redirect excess fluid away from areas which are swollen towards areas with normal lymphatic drainage.

On consultation I can assess the risk of developing lymphoedema, assess the severity of lymphoedema if present and also provide necessary treatment, which will consist of MLD combined with CDT if needed, Correct Breathing Techniques, Compression Therapy, Skincare advice and Decongestive exercises. Initially it involves frequent visits to the clinic and patient participation is essential for on going care. The aim of our service is to raise lymphoedema awareness and offer early intervention to prevent progression of symptoms.
